Purpose
PlainMaternity provides a free interactive reference and projection tool for UK statutory maternity, paternity, shared parental, and childcare benefits. It is informational only and not regulated financial, tax, employment-rights, or legal advice.
Accuracy
We make best-effort attempts to keep all statutory rates, eligibility criteria, and rules current with HMRC and GOV.UK publications. Refresh cadence is documented on the methodology page. However, statutory amounts and rules can change between our refresh windows, and individual circumstances can introduce complications that simple flat-rate reference tables cannot capture.
Before making any employment, financial, or family-planning decision based on figures from this site, verify the current position with HMRC's Statutory Payments Helpline (0300 200 3211), ACAS (0300 123 1100), or a qualified professional.
Calculator outputs
Calculator outputs are estimates based on the rules and rates documented on this site. The calculator uses simplifications — most notably approximating AWE as gross annual salary ÷ 52 — that may not match the formal HMRC calculation in your specific case. Calculator outputs are not contractual commitments by any employer.
No professional relationship
Use of PlainMaternity does not create any professional, advisory, or fiduciary relationship between PlainMaternity (the publisher) and the reader. We provide a reference tool; we do not act as your adviser, agent, or representative.
Linked resources
This site links to external resources at HMRC, GOV.UK, ACAS, Maternity Action, Citizens Advice, and primary UK legislation. We are not responsible for the content or accuracy of external sites. External links are provided for verification and further reading.
Intellectual property
The structure, content, calculators, and visual presentation of PlainMaternity are © PlainMaternity. Statutory rates and primary source content remain the intellectual property of the relevant UK government bodies and are reproduced under fair-dealing for the purpose of public-interest reference.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, PlainMaternity is not liable for any loss arising from reliance on the information on this site. PlainMaternity is provided "as is" without warranty. If you require certainty about your specific case, consult a professional.
Jurisdiction
These terms are governed by English law and any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
