Summary
PlainMaternity is an independent publisher. We do not store anything you enter into the calculator. We do not have user accounts. We use Umami analytics for aggregate page-view statistics — no cookies, no personal identifiers, no third-party trackers.
What we collect
We collect aggregate, anonymised page-view metrics via Umami analytics. Specifically: page URL, referrer (if any), browser type, screen size, country (approximate, IP-derived), and visit timestamp. We do not collect: IP addresses (anonymised before storage), names, email addresses, browsing history outside this site, or any other personal identifiers.
Calculator inputs
Everything you enter into our maternity-pay calculator (salary, due date, employer policy, leave length) runs entirely in your browser as JavaScript. No data is sent to any server. We have no backend that receives or stores calculator inputs.
Cookies
We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising. We may set strictly necessary cookies for site functionality (such as session preferences for accessibility settings), but no third-party tracking cookies.
Advertising
If we display advertising on this site (via Google AdSense), the advertising integration will load Google's adsbygoogle.js script. Google may use cookies to serve relevant ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of Google's personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings.
When advertising is active, we implement Google's Consent Mode v2 with EU/UK defaults — analytics and ad-targeting cookies are blocked until you give explicit consent through the cookie banner.
Source data
All statutory rates and rules displayed on PlainMaternity come from HMRC, GOV.UK, ACAS, DWP, and primary UK legislation. No private, proprietary, or personally-identifiable data is used. No information about individual claimants or employers appears anywhere on the site.
Your rights under UK GDPR
Because we do not store personal data, most data-subject rights (access, erasure, portability) do not arise. If you believe we hold personal data about you and wish to exercise a right, email hello@plainmaternity.co.uk. We respond within 30 days.
